Counter-intuitive, quotidian, and at times morbidly humorous, HUGO endeavors to present everything that has ever happened and ever will happen at the same time. A 60 minute time capsule built by Chris Yon, with his collaborators David Bagnall (Video), Chloë Z Brown (Lights), Justin Jones (Sound), Karinne Keithley (Text), and performed by Taryn Griggs, Jeff Larson and Yon, HUGO attempts to explain our present world to those 50,000 years in the future.
- HUGO is commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation.
