10 Questions
Each artist on our spring season was asked to answer the same 10 questions as briefly and as honestly as possible. Below are Monstah Black's answers:
1. What is the one thing you want people to know about your work?
The one thing I’d like to people to know about my work is how it is rooted in honesty, imagination and inspiration from Society. 2. Who or what is your greatest artistic influence?
Prince is my greatest influence musically and Michael Clark and Pina Bausch are my greatest influences in dance 3. Where do you rehearse?
D.T.W. Topaz Arts and The Studio (music studios) 4. How do you earn your keep?
Commissioned Musical Compositions, Costume Consultations and Design and T-Shirt Sales. 5. Are you certified in anything?
I’m currently not certified in anything, but will jump on the opportunity when it comes to life. A certification in fabulousness would be Hot! 6. Where was your most memorable performance?
My most memorable performance was an improvisational performance in an Art Opening in a gallery in Washington DC. Smashing expensive dining ware into a brick fire place with another great inspiration of mine, Maida Withers of Maida Withers Dance Construction. Standing on top of the broken pieces we turned it into a soft shoe tap dance. 7. What was the last great thing you saw?
