10 Questions
Each artist on our spring season was asked to answer the same 10 questions as briefly and as honestly as possible. Below are Ivy Baldwin's answers:
1. What is the one thing you want people to know about your work?
It's ok to laugh. 2. Who or what is your greatest artistic influence?
My childhood in the small town of Madison, FL., surviving in NYC, modern art museums, and my imagination. 3. Where do you rehearse?
Lots of places, Mark Morris Dance Group, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, DTW, etc…. 4. How do you earn your keep?
I make my living teaching private Pilates lessons and from commissions for new student work within the university system. 5. Are you certified in anything?
In addition to an MFA, Pilates Mat. 6. Where was your most memorable performance?
In July 2008 my company performed at the Appel Farms Summer Arts Camp in NJ for 250 kids ages 9-17. They screamed for us and we felt like rock stars. 7. What was the last great thing you saw?
My dad's new paintings. 8. What is your cell phone ring tone?
Mine is always on vibrate. 9. What are you currently reading?
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss and my Romania Travel Guide.10. If you press shuffle on your ipod what is the first song that plays?
On September 4, 2008 it was Michelle, by The Beatles.
