10 Questions

Each artist on our fall season was asked to answer the same 10 questions as briefly and as honestly as possible.

Below are Bebe Miller's answers:

1. Who or what is your greatest artistic influence?

For this work, the writer Ian McEwan.

2. Where do you rehearse?

We meet for intensive residencies several times a year; Wexner Center for the Arts, Krannert Performing Arts Center, the Ohio State Dept. of Dance, New York City, the Bates Dance Festival and Jacob’s Pillow have been our most recent.

3. How do you earn your keep?

I teach for half the year at Ohio State University, where I’m a Professor. The rest of the time I work for Bebe Miller Company.

4. Are you certified in anything?

Does an MA in Dance (OSU ‘75) count?

5. Where was your most memorable performance?

There are 2: Men’s prison lecture dem in California / Johannesburg, SA at the opening of the Dance Factory

6. What was the last great thing you’ve seen?

I am sure there’s something theatrical that I can’t bring up, but today was a great, rainy day.

7. What is your cell phone ring tone?

My voice saying ring, ring, ring.

8. What are you currently reading?

Lush Life by Richard Price is on reserve for me at my library.

9. Who would win in a fight between Merce Cunningham and Paul Taylor?

Why would they fight?

10. If you press shuffle on your ipod what is the first song that plays?

No idea.
