Artist Statement

My choreographic interest stems from a desire to explore and communicate the infinite complexities of the interior world. The physical content is developed through improvisation and somatic practices of presence, by letting the expressive body lead the mind. The performers and I work very collaboratively in an effort to bring our whole selves into the process. I am interested in kinetic expression, the mind of the performer, abrupt shifts in tone, and the inherent magic of theater. I rely on imagination and intuition to inform my work alongside form and craft and seek to make art that is felt as well as seen.
