French choreographer Rachid Ouramdane returns to Dance Theater Workshop with Far…, a solo performance investigating identity, cultural home, and conflict. Featuring diary entries from Rachid’s Algerian father written during the French occupation of Algeria and later of Vietnam, this work asks: “How does the violence of armed conflict make us foreign? What kind of sensitivity is born out of this violence?”
- Far… is supported by Dance Theater Workshop, through funding, in part, by FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance, a program of the National Dance Project/New England Foundation for the Arts and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York with lead funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and French American Cultural Exchange. This presentation is made possible, in part, by the generous support of KING’S FOUNTAIN, Barbara Watson Pillsbury and Henry Pillsbury through the David R. White Producers Circle.
