Beth Gill / Daniel Linehan

Eleanor & Eleanor / Not About Everything

Nov 28 – Dec 1 at 7:30pm

Eleanor & Eleanor is an assignment in aesthetics and a meditation on personal history and mythology. Two women and two men dance within a frame whose prominence exposes the appropriation of iconography and fictionalization of the performer. This dance piece will look at dividing lines between homage and exploitation. This dance piece will remember how to dance.

Daniel Linehan's new solo, Not About Everything, re-imagines familiar experiences through a layered structure of intensified physical rhythms and an incessant cyclical use of language. Searching for the impossible ideal of perfection, he submits himself to this unforgiving task, blurring the line between accomplishment and failure.

Eleanor & Eleanorand Not About Everything are commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning Program and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Jerome Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation. Eleanor & Eleanor is supported by the NYS DanceForce with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts Dance Program and Altria Group, Inc.
