Innaviews
Post-Show Talk Dec 19 with Nicholas Leichter
New York-bred Hip-Hop pioneers Rokafella and Kwikstep are celebrated for their high-impact dance style, signature bravura, and mentoring skills as educators and community leaders. In the early 90's, Rockafella and Kwikstep started investigating Hip-Hop as a proscenium performance art form. This year they have the rare opportunity to re-investigate Innaviews, a duet that takes an inside look at the lives of these two Hip-Hop performers. Exploring the creative process and the complicated world of entertainment, this duet travels through the passionate lifestyle of Hip-Hop artists while confronting the mis-conceptions of the form.
Innaviews is commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning Program and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation. This presentation is made possible, in part, by the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. Bart Mosley through the David R. White Producers Circle.
