STUDIO SERIES: Jack Ferver
Death Is Certain
Friday Night Toast Jan 30
Post-Show Talk Sat. Jan 31 w/ Tom Cole
"restless, visceral, and often painful... sympathetic as it is bitingly corrosive" - Clauda La Rocco, The New York Times
In the work-in-progress Death Is Certain, which will premiere at Danspace Project at St. Marks Church in April 2009,
choreographer Jack Ferver and dancers Liz Santoro and Tony Orrico look at the manipulative, savage, and desperate ways we
try to resist the most certain thing. High-octane choreography and brutally honest text are set to an original score written and
performed live by John McGrew of Apollo Run.
The Studio Series brings new artistic voices to Dance Theater Workshop and opens our studios for public showings. Eight artists
receive a 100-hour creative residency in our studios and a commission/stipend. This residency gives each artist the opportunity
to research and develop work in a raw, process-oriented space. The outcomes are shared through two informal presentations by
each artist, inviting the audience to see work at different stages of development. Studio Series artists are curated internally by the
Artistic Director in conjunction with Programming staff and A guest curator from Urban Word NYC and two invited artists from
the DTW season.
- Studio Series is supported, in part, by Time Warner, Inc.
