Walter Dundervill / Heather Olson
You Wrote The Book / Curious awake not possible
Mar 26 – 29 at 7:30pm
Walter Dundervill combines dance with various visual art media, including video, performance art, costume design, and installation. You Wrote the Book is a diptych of discreet visual narratives – a travelogue set in the recent past and a dream-like fiction set in the late 18th century. Woven together, these fragmented stories unravel simultaneously through time and space.
Structured as a highly organized stream of consciousness, Curious awake not possible asks, what governs the choices we make? Using choreography as an archaeological tool to excavate personal emotional landscapes, Heather Olson uncovers a world of magical realism where virtuosic dancing morphs into deeply felt states of being.
- You Wrote the Book and Curious awake not possible are commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Jerome Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation.
