International Partner Highlight:
Workshop Foundation (Budapest)

The Workshop Foundation in Budapest, Hungary was founded in 1992 with the aim to provide support for independent artists, to encourage their artistic development and the development of the whole field of contemporary dance in Hungary.
They support almost all the Hungarian artists involved in contemporary dance and theatre in one way or the other. The Foundation offers support for independent performing artists through education, production and professional help; providing the necessary role of intermediary between artists and Hungarian state institutions.
The Foundation has produced and partnered with many different projects in both Hungary and throughout Europe to help present and develop the work of local artists. Jardin d’Europe and DÉPARTS are both international partnerships that the Foundation is involved in. The goal of these programs is to invest in the development of contemporary dance in Europe through workshops, residencies, and internships. Research Into the Unknown is an improvisational laboratory coordinated by the Workshop Foundation that encourages artists to research improvisation as an artistic tool as a means of creation in contemporary dance. In addition to these projects the Foundation provides workshops and weekly technique classes in a variety of subject matter.
