FRESH TRACKS Catch Up: Stacy Grossfield

Stacy Grossfield 'Magic Under My Belt'

Last year while in residency Stacy created Restless, which was presented this past April at the BAX Upstart Festival.  After more development, she showed it again at the end of June.  She then presented that material, untitled, in an off-the-cuff split show called p.art.ies at The Tank on July 30th.

“The residency was extremely helpful in making me realize the potential of my work when it is given a significant amount of time to be chewed on, which I’ve never been able to give it. I am truly grateful for that opportunity.” –Stacy Grossfield

This fall Stacy performed a new work-in-progress, solo-ish, at CATCH on Oct. 10. The piece is essentially a solo, performed by  Stacy (her first time dancing a self-created solo), with a group of non-dancers occupying the space. “I am in my own world, they are in theirs, high jinks ensue.” There is also a live DJ improvising throughout the piece.

Stacy will be performing at CATCH on December 19th in Natalie Green’s work and also in Natalie’s Studio Series at DTW in February.  Stacy will be showing a completed version of solo-ish (tentative title) in April, date TBA, at Dixon Place.  She is planning to involve many more people/art makers.

The 2010 Fresh Track artist will present their work February 11-13.  Click Here for more information.
