Join a nationwide contemplative action of protest, reflection and solidarity

In response to the frustration Miguel Gutierrez felt about the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 he performed freedom of information, a 24 hour performance/protest/ritual improvisation in which he tried move continuously for 24 hours while blindfolded and ear plugged. The protest acknowledged the people whose lives were being disrupted by this conflict, who maybe suddenly found themselves having to leave their homes, not getting to experience the serenity of even resting at night, constantly on the move.

Now seven years later - while the country is embroiled in two horrible wars that have killed, injured, and displaced thousands of people - Miguel is reprising this action but this time with 49 other artists, one from each state as well as Washington D.C., creating a nationwide contemplative action of protest, reflection and solidarity. The action will take place on December 31st, 2008, starting at midnight of the 30th and ending with the beginning of the new year.

Many states/artists have already come on board but there are still many slots to be filled. Below is a list of participating artists and states and a list of states that still need representation.
