Jerome Bel

Pichet Klunchun and myself

Nov 7 – 10 at 7:30pm
Coffee and Converstaion Pre-Show Talk: Nov 7, 6:30 - 7pm with Lili Chopra

Confronting traditional notions of performance, France’s Jerome Bel returns to Dance Theater Workshop with Pichet Klunchun and myself, a witty theatrical documentary of an intellectual encounter between two men. Pichet Klunchun and myself stages the meeting between conceptual choreographer Jerome and traditional Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun. Through a lively mixture of physical demonstration and spirited verbal debate, Jerome and Pichet’s lucid, humorous quest for understanding one another despite the vast cultural gap dividing them reminds us why contemporary art is worth caring about in the first place.

Pichet Klunchun and myself is co-presented by PERFORMA for PERFORMA07. PERFORMA07 (November 1 – 20, 2007) is the second biennial of new visual art performance presented by PERFORMA, a non-profit multidisciplinary arts organization dedicated to exploring the critical role of live performance in the history of twentieth century art and to encouraging new directions in performance for the twenty-first century. performa-arts.org

Pichet Klunchun and myself is supported, in part, through funding by FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance, a program of the National Dance Project/New England Foundation for the Arts and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York with lead funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and French American Cultural Exchange.
