Creative Residencies for Artists
Established in 2004, Dance Theater Workshop’s Creative Residency and Commissioning Program addresses the critical need for commissions, rehearsal space, and technical res-idencies, in support of the creative process. Expanding its impact in the 2007-2008 season, all artists creating new work on our stage will be given either a five-day technical residency in the theater, or 100 hours of free rehearsal time in our studios. Artists creating work as part of the Studio Series are given a 100 hour creative residency in our studios, and artists participating in Fresh Tracks will receive a 50 hour creative residency in our studios along with workshops in creative development, fundraising, and marketing.
Outer/Space Creative Residency for Artists program is focused on creative development with an emphasis on process. Artists selected to participate in a creative residency receive 100 hours of free rehearsal space, a stipend and are invited to attend a series of professional development workshops and critical dialogues. Throughout the residency, artists work with an advisor who provides constructive criticism as well as an outside perspective on new material that is generated during the residency.
