Dance Theater Workshop partners with Danspace Project to present five days of performance inspired by Deborah
Hay’s choreography, beginning with Danspace Project’s presentation of “O, O”, and closing with our presentation of four solo
adaptations of Deborah Hay’s Room. Each Adaptation had to follow the following guidelines: 1) each artist will make a
commitment to practice the solo for three months before the first public performance. It is understood that through the daily
performance of the material, its adaptation will reveal itself to the dance artist. 2) The sequence of the dance material must be
followed.
3) Any part within the sequence may be dropped by the dancer, but nothing new may be added. 4)The dancer may add
music, text, set, costume, lights, video, etc.
Please note performances are on Monday and Tuesday
- Solo Adaptations is supported by Dance Theater Workshop and presented in association with Danspace Project, through funding, in part, by FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance, a program of the National Dance Project/New England Foundation for the Arts and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York with lead funding from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and French American Cultural Exchange.
