luciana achugar creates performances where dancing feels like a necessary and unquestionable act, a celebration of sensuality
and pleasure. The Sublime is Us searches for a pure transparent and vulnerable performance state. Driven by an
almost childlike, innocent desire to be closer to, or “touch” the audience, the work invites us into the dancer’s work space,
the studio.
- The Sublime is Us is commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Jerome Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation.
