Manager of Individual Giving
The Manager of Individual Giving is a full-time employee of Dance Theater Workshop with responsibility for working closely with the Development department on growing the institution’s individual donor base. The Manager of Individual Giving supports activities related to management of our donor member program, including direct mail campaigns, cultivation and fundraising events, and major gift solicitations. Working closely with the Director of Development, the position will develop and implement strategies for renewing and increasing gifts from individuals, via an expanded Donor Membership Program, support the stewardship of current donors, including Dance Theater Workshop’s Board of Directors, and expand the roster of new individual donors. This position will also work closely with the Manager of Special Events in connection with successful cultivation events that further Dance Theater Workshop’s mission. This position reports to the Director of Development.

Director of Planning and Development
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Planning and Development is an 18 month position designed to provide leadership, direction, and coordination for a comprehensive fundraising program and development of a six-year major gift campaign. The Director of Planning and Development will be expected to design, implement, and manage an integrated development plan with a primary focus on the development of a significant major donor initiative. Coordinating with Dance Theater Workshop leadership, s/he will strategically plan and manage the development operation to meet long-term fundraising goals; maintain relationships with donors, volunteers and the Board of Directors; and work hands-on to cultivate and solicit donations.

Fall Season Internships

Dance Theater Workshop, seeks creative and forward-thinking interns who can jump on board in exciting administrative
and technical production positions. Benefits include complimentary tickets to Dance Theater Workshop events and, often, to
events at other cultural venues. A close view will be afforded of the workings, both financial and programmatic, of a major
New York cultural institution that is active in local, regional, and global arenas. College credit is available for administrative
intern positions upon request.
Note: All administrative internships are unpaid. There is a stipend available for full time technical production interns.
It is strongly advised to demonstrate interest in multiple departments if desired, as there is usually only one administrative
intern per department, and it is possible that interns can move from department to department.

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP
20 hours per week, 6-month minimum; unpaidRequirements:
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to use his or her passion for innovative marketing in service of a leading-edge cultural institution. Previous experience with real-world marketing/advertising programs is a plus, as is an interest in the performing arts and the New York City cultural scene. The ideal candidate will also have well-developed research and writing skills, notably beyond typical academic standards.
Responsibilities:As the position is centered around the establishment of a new circle of corporate sponsors for Dance Theater Workshop, day-to-day tasks will include detailed research on business strategy, brand DNA, and patterns of marketing and philanthropy among target companies. Helping create a database of information on each of the target companies is a large part of this position, as is helping to plan and execute individual approaches and “asks” for each company, including the creation of inquiry and pitch letters. The position involves close work with Dance Theater Workshop Executive Director Stephen Greco, as well as with Development Director Sara Juli, and Marketing Director Megan Sprenger.
DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP
Responsibilities:- Provide administrative support to the Director of Institutional Giving
- Researching relevant Foundations, Corporations, and Institutions
- Following up on Corporate Sponsor contacts
- Research individual donor prospects and new corporate sponsorship endeavors
- Assist in developing support materials for Dance Theater Workshop’s written proposals, as well as assembling proposals to be sent to Funders
- Aid in maintenance and updating of donor records
Qualifications:
Strong writing, interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy are required. Any web and/or graphic design
experience a plus. This position reports directly to the Director of Institutional Giving. This opportunity is intended to provide
a student with valuable learning experience in the development and grant-writing aspects of a non-profit organization.
The intern schedule will be 10 to 20 hours a week for 6-8 weeks. Please note that start and end dates are flexible.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
Intern will assist in all graphic and web design projects related to the performing season, branding campaign, fundraising and advertising.
Responsibilites:- Create and Edit using provided templates: Artist Specific Programs, Postcards and signage; bi-weekly emails; and monthly advertisements
- Assist in artist deadline management and correspondence
- Assist in organization and editing of web and print copy
- Database entry and cleaning related to design materials for Season Artists
Qualifications:
- Graphic Design Major and/or interest in graphic design
- Basic Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop software is preferred
Start and end dates are negotiable
Hours/week: 20 hours a week
PROGRAMMING INTERNSHIP
Responsibilities:Dance Theater Workshop’s Programming Intern supports the Programming Assistant in the general management of the Programming Department. This intern also provides administrative support to the Artistic Director, Senior Producer, and Associate Producer. The Programming Intern will support the Programming Assistant in preparing for Dance Theater Workshop’s spring season and will also work independently on smaller projects. Responsibilities may include organizing archives, data entry, research, preparation for departmental workshops and events, assisting with Curatorial Advisory Committee mailings, attending Programming Department meetings, and maintaining Artist’s files.
Qualifications:
Effective writing, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and computer literacy are required. Knowledge of Excel is a plus. The length of the Programming Internship is four to eight months, with a flexible schedule of 5 to 8 hours a week.

MARKETING INTERNSHIP
Intern will assist in the planning and implementation of publicity and community outreach initiatives including the Chelsea Cultural Partnership Program, audience development, and the annual gala celebration. A huge focus is geared towards Dance Theater Workshop’s branding campaign, and the preparation of all print material both current and archival. In addition, the marketing intern will be integral in maintaining Dance Theater Workshop’s blog activity along with other web based projects.
Responsibilites:- Creation of artist specific press kits and informational forms for the Box Office Staff
- Update press database
- Assist in organization and editing of web and print material
- Assist coordination of the Culture Fest and other Dance Theater Workshop sponsorship appeals
- Attend weekly marketing and planning meetings
- Database entry/maintenance related to audience mailing lists and research
Qualifications:
Strong writing, organization, and interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy are required.
FULL TIME TECHNICAL PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP
(NOW HIRING SPRING INTERNS)Dance Theater Workshop Tech Interns are involved in all areas of theatrical production. Supervised by the Dance Theater
Workshop production staff, interns work on every production from load-in, technical rehearsals, show runs, through load-out.
Interns operate lighting and sound consoles for all shows gaining hands-on experience with top quality industry standard
equipment. Tech interns actively participate in a wide variety of departmental work including electrics, carpentry, stage
management, and rigging.
Working with Dance Theater Workshop’s full time production department and some of the best designers and technicians
New York City has to offer, interns are exposed to a wide range of specialists and work styles helping each intern find and
develop their own areas of interest. Through this intense yet rewarding process, interns gain invaluable experience and contacts
in a professional, world-renowned dance theatre venue. Many past interns continue to work for Dance Theater Workshop and
have helped create a huge platform of opportunity for current interns as they complete their training.
